Third proposal/ M teacher

This next proposal is for music student or anyone trying to learn how to play an instrument.

The M teacher is a device that you place on a surface near you while you play and records the notes it hears, analyses them against the original of the song you where trying to play and then when u are finished points out where you strayed off course of the original and gives hints on how to improve.

In order for this to work the user would have to program the official songs they are trying learn so that it has something to go off.

This devise will have several different setting so that you could use it with many types of different instruments.

Second proposal/ Retail preference card

This proposal takes the basics behind the oyster card but changes them up for high street retail purposes

For this example we’ll use the well known shop HMV, as the title entails this idea is a card that carries your retail preferences.

The owner would carry this card in their wallet or purse with some of their likes and dislikes already programmed onto it as you walk inside HMV the reader at the door picks it up.

their preferences are then loaded into the store data base so that they can go to any user console in the store and bring up items in store or upcoming ones that link to the data on that user’s card.

As well as saving the person the hassle or trying to get a staff member to help it would also allow the user to have the option to have an automated text sent to their phone when an item they are interested in is released.

First proposal/ The mood cube

First proposal/ The mood cube

My concept for the mood cube has sprung from my earlier research into LED’s and hologram displays.

I propose to make a 15 by15 multi-colour LED cube that interacts and changes visually depending on the state of the computer it is connected to, in essence it’s a visual display of the computers state of security ,health and current function.

Practical and aesthetic uses

As far as the practical uses go this is more of a novelty customisable item that should reflect and look how the owner programs it to.

For instance rather than getting the standard annoying ugly pop-up warning that are typical on pc’s and mac’s the user could tell the cube to display a lightning strike, glowing red orb or a preloaded picture.

It will also have the ability to monitoring other programs such as media devises and games currently in play and adjusts to the tempo accordingly where music is concerned or display the logo of the game in play.

Technology

as far as the technical side is concerned all the technology needed is already widely available and easy to find as far as the circuitry, LED’s and materials are concerned, the only issue is with the software and programming that would alow it to interact with the computer but if this item was to be made for retail, people with the skills to do so would be provided.

LEDs

I found some interesting stuff on LED displays while surfing the net. I wanted to look into this area anyway for future ideas since they are a nice and fresh way for displaying infomation.

heres an interesting way of displaying your computer

and here are some interesting uses of displaying imagery

Other interfaces

just to carry on from my first post I was browsing pixel sumo and found some alternates to Microsoft's "surface" some are addons while others like tangent have there own unique style
enjoy.

Research on up coming and future interactive surfaces

well here we are on a new blog and to get the ball rolling i have decided to do some research on touchable interactive surfaces.

One of the main reasons i have decided to approach physical user interfaces such as ables and touch screens is mainly because it was one of the first subjects talked about in season 1 and is also an area which i am interested in, so without any more dribbling heres what i found.

Microsoft

The big M's approach to the subject is their new superdooper computer named "Surface" which in essence looks like a huge ipod screen sized table that enables the user to move around their music, pic's and any other documents as if they where on an actual physical surface.

it also registers any media item that is laid on it screen and access its content wirelessly and seamlessly, it also shows financial uses as well allowing you to place you card on top and pay bills in the restaurants.

while this is all well and good in your ideal world if this payment method was to be introduced worldwide it would mean Microsoft would of have to corner the market and with apple cornering the fruit market as it where thats not going to happen anytime soon.

even so it still a cool concept

heres some links so u can judge for yourself
